vis art.

I consider my artistic practice as an art of bookmaking/book art through the processes of stitching, weaving, threading, and sewing of different concepts/mediums/relationships/bodies/bodies of work. I am experimenting with the meaning of constructing a book, which is a holding/living space of language engaged in its effort to construct a multi-faceted identity and the process of building a book, which strives to link/connect/bring together different pages/parts of a book. Inspired by the greatest weaver, the spider, I am reimagining a book made by this creature both as an artist and artisan. I let the identity of a spider as a homemaker, storyteller, protector, mender, maker, and myth inform the politics of the space my work creates.
